Setting Preferences

Overview

Navigate the drop downs below to learn how to adjust various settings on the PC Jabber web application.

 

Follow the instructions below to access the various menus to update your settings preferences.

  1. In the Hub window, click the gear to the right of your name. 

  1. Select File > Options.

  1. Click the gear in the upper right side of the application. 

  1. Select Options. 

  1. Click Audio. 

  1. Set Speaker to desired speaker source (ex. Plantronics C320 or USB Audio Device) 

  1. Set Microphone to desired microphone source (ex. Plantronics C320 or USB Audio Device) 

  1. Set Ringer/Alerts to Speakers. (This ensures you will hear incoming calls.) 

  1. Click Apply. 

Note: Plantronics C320 is the brand of headset that is currently distributed to you at Tufts.  If you select a different headset, you will select the USB Audio Device listed in the drop-down. 

Upon your initial log in, you can set up Jabber to sign you in each time you launch your computer.  If you decided to turn it off, or did not check it at the first sign in you can do it manually through the options window.

  1. Click the gear in the upper right corner of the Jabber hub window. 

  1. Select Options. 

  1. Select the General tab. 

  1. Check the box Start Cisco Jabber when my computer starts. 

  1. Click Apply. 

  1. Click the gear in the upper right side of the application. 

  1. Select Options. 

  1. Click Notifications. 

  1. Select/de-select notifications and sounds as desired. 

  1. Click Apply. 

  1. Click the gear in the upper right side of the application. 

  1. Select Options. 

  1. Click Calls. 

  1. Select Always or Never start calls with video as desired. 

  1. Click Apply. 

The docked window for Jabber on PC

You can optionally show the docked window at the top of your screen to quickly access common functions: Search or call, open recents, and open the Hub window. 

Display Docked Window 

  1. In the Hub window, click the gear to the right of your name. 

  1. Select View > Show Docked Window. 

Note: This is a toggle, so if you follow the same steps above, you can turn the docked window off. 

Move Docked Window 

  1. In the Hub window, click the gear to the right of your name. 

  1. Select View > Position docked window. 

  1. Select Top Left, Top Center, or Top Right as desired. 

Note: You can also click and drag the docked window to move it around the top of your screen.
