Benefits and Features:

Geodata at Tufts is a federated web application designed to access thousands of geospatial data layers available through a single, open source interface. The project is comprised of several universities and organizations. Partners include Tufts, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, MassGIS, Stanford and UC Berkeley.

Features include:

  • A map-based search interface combined with a traditional text-based metadata search for rapid data discovery.
  • Data layers that can be downloaded, streamed into an application, shared via a link or mapped online with GeoCommons.
Requirements:

To access data restricted by licensing agreement to the Tufts community, users must login with their Tufts Username and Tufts Password.

Get Started:

To begin exploring the geospatial repository:

  1. Browse to http://geodata.tufts.edu/.
  2. Search for data by using the basic or advanced search tools, or interact with the map to view search results limited to the geographic extent of the map. These two methods can be used together for a more effective search.
