Cisco Jabber: VoIP Telephone

Tufts is transitioning from Jabber to Webex Calling for “softphone” services on computers and mobile devices. During the transition period, users can opt to use either tool, but it is recommended that you start using Webex in preparation for the end of Jabber access at Tufts, which will be announced at a later date. Visit AccessTufts to learn more. OFF CAMPUS? Use of Tufts phone services via Jabber and Webex requires Tufts VPN.

Cisco Jabber is an application that works with the Tufts VoIP telephone service and allows you to take your Tufts telephone number, if you have one, on the go with you. It gives you the flexibility to make calls from a computer or mobile device, in addition to traditional desktop phones.

To use Jabber, download and install it onto your device and log in with your Tufts credentials. Note that Jabber should come pre-installed on Tufts-managed computers.

To communicate via chat, Tufts uses Microsoft Teams.

To communicate via video, Tufts uses Zoom.
