Configuring Cisco Jabber before VoIP Conversion
Before VoIP conversion, we recommend you configure your Cisco Jabber account and update your page in Tufts Directory. This will ensure you are ready to start using Jabber as your telephone.
Configure Cisco Jabber
On the date of your conversion, you will notice that your former telephone is blank. This means that you can now connect to Cisco Jabber to begin using the telephone through your computer.

Locate the folder, Cisco Jabber.
-
Double-click the Cisco Jabber icon to launch the application.

After the application has opened, exit the application to complete the process of placing you into the system. Note: Do not just sign out, as this will not complete the process.

On a PC, click the gear in the upper right corner of the window and select Exit.
-
On a Mac, click Jabber on the menu bar and select Quit Jabber.
-
Update your Directory Page
Jabber uses Tufts Directory Pages to allow Tufts users to easily contact other Tufts users. To make it so other Jabber users can find you more easily, you can update your Tufts Directory Page.
-
Go to https://directory.tufts.edu/.
-
Locate yourself.
-
Ensure that your phone number is either your direct line or the department main number.
-
Edit your page if the number is not up to date.
