The Self Care Portal

Overview 

The Cisco Jabber Self Care Portal allows you to update your preferences for Jabber across your all of your devices, including your desk phone. 

The Self Care portal can be accessed directly by entering the URL voipportal.tufts.edu into a web browser or through a link in Cisco Jabber. 

 

Access the Self Care Portal on Jabber for PC

  1. Click the Gear icon from the top right corner of the Jabber Hub. 

  1. Select Options

  1. Select the Self Care Portal tab. 

  1. Click Open Self Care. Your default web browser will open to the Self Care portal online page. 

  1. Enter your Tufts username and password and click Sign in

Access using Cisco Jabber on a Mac 

  1. On the menu bar click Jabber

  1. Select Preferences

  1. At the top of the window, click the Self Care button. 

  1. Click Open Self Care. Your default web browser will open to the Self Care portal online page. 

  1. Enter your Tufts username and password and click Sign in

When enabled, single number reach causes your mobile phone and your business phone to ring a the same time when a person calls your Tufts phone number.

  1. Sign into the Self Care portal

  1. On the left, click the My Phones tab. 

  1. In the additional phones section, click the plus sign (+) to add your mobile phone. 

  1. Enter your mobile phone number. 

  1. Create a description (e.g. My cell phone). 

  1. Select the check box for Enable Single Number Reach and click Save

Additional Options: 

Create a Schedule 

Select this option if you wish to have the system ring to your mobile phone at designated times only. 

  1. Click the Create a schedule for this assignment button. 

  1. Name the Schedule. 

  1. Select the option Ring only during specific times. 

  1. Choose the day and time ranges you want the phone to ring. 

  1. At the base of the window, click the dropdown for Time zone. Click More Choices repeatedly until you locate and then select (GMT-5:00) America/New_York. 

  1. Click Save. 

Enable Move to Mobile 

Select the Enable Move to Mobile checkbox to transfer active calls from your Cisco IP Phone to this mobile phone by pressing the Mobility button.  (Note: This feature only works if you are using a desk phone and not with the Cisco Jabber application.) 

Advanced call timing 

At the base of the window, click the Advanced call timing link to modify the wait time before your mobile phone starts to ring as well as the end time to ensure that a missed call goes to your Tufts voicemail. 

If you are using a desk phone you can set up speed dial numbers for that phone through the self-care portal.  

Add numbers to speed dial on Jabber

  1. Sign into the Self-care portal. 

  1. Click the Phones Settings tab. 

  1. Click the Speed Dial Numbers heading. 

  1. Click Add New Speed Dial

  1. Enter the 10-digit telephone number and enter a description for that number. 

  2. Select a speed dial number between 1 and 199 that you have not already used. 

  3. Click Save.

In the Self Care Portal, the Call Forwarding tab is where you can add telephone numbers to forward your calls and create separate advanced calling rules for incoming internal (Tufts) and external calls.  Call forwarding applies to all calls regardless of if you are using a desk phone or the Cisco Jabber application. 

  1. Sign into the Self-care portal. 

  1. Click the Call Forwarding tab. 

  1. Check the Forward all calls to box. 

  1. Decide where you wish to forward your calls to. 

    1. To forward all calls to Voicemail, select Voicemail in the field on the right. 

    1. To forward all calls to another number, select the number where you want to forward your incoming calls.  (You can also enter a new 10-digit number. Note: You must enter the ten digits without any surrounding characters, such as parenthesis or dashes.) Calls will be forwarded to this number without ringing on Jabber first.

  1. Click Save. 

To end call forwarding, follow the steps above and de-select the Forward all calls to box.  Be sure to click save. From this screen, you can also adjust your Advanced Calling Rules, allowing you to specify where your calls are forwarded in different situations.
