Enroll and Set Up a Device
To begin using two-factor authentication, you will need to enroll and set up at least one device - a smartphone, a cellphone, a tablet, or a landline (office or home phone). We recommend that you set up your cellphone as your primary device, then set up another device as a backup if possible.
- Navigate to the 2FA Service Page and click Manage.
- Log in with your Tufts username (e.g. jjumbo01) and password.
- A series of welcome messages will appear. Continue clicking Next until you get to the first setup screen.
- When you get to this screen, you are ready to set up your first device for Duo 2FA. For further instructions, click the link below that corresponds to the device you want to add. When you are done following those instructions, return to this page and continue from the next step!
- Once you have added your first device, Duo will recommend that you add a second one. You can skip this for now and add another device later.
- You will see a prompt to try Duo verification. Click Log in with Duo to begin.
- When you’re ready, initiate the verification step. For example, if you added a phone number as your first verification method, you would click Call phone.
- Once you complete your first prompt, you’ll be brought to the Duo device management page. The device you just enrolled in 2FA will be listed. You will see options to manage this device or add additional ones.
- If possible, we recommend setting up another device as a backup. To do so, follow the directions on the Add a New Device page.
