Office 365 Mail Setup for iOS


Guides to install and configure either Microsoft Office 365 (Microsoft Outlook) or the built-in mail app on an iOS device. Examples of iOS devices include iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone. It is important to note that you must have a passcode set up to protect your device in order to access your Tufts email from your iOS device. You can find instructions as to how to set this up below.


Access Passcode preferences on iOS device

To access your Tufts email on your mobile device, you must have a passcode. 

  1. Navigate to the Settings application on your device. 

  1. Scroll down to the third group and tap Touch ID & Passcode

  1. Tap Turn Passcode On

  1. Decide whether you wish to have a Custom Alphanumeric Code, a Custom Numeric Code, a 6-Digit Numeric code, or a 4-Digit Numeric code. 

  1. Enter your new passcode. 

  1. Reenter your passcode. 

Follow these steps to set up Microsoft Outlook on your iOS device. Microsoft Outlook for iOS requires iOS 8.0 or higher. App availability varies by country so find out what's available in your country. If the app is incompatible with your device, try adding your mail account using the built-in mail app that comes with your device.

  1. Download the Microsoft Outlook app from the Apple Store if you haven't installed it yet. (search for "Microsoft Outlook") 
  2. Once the application is installed, open it and enter your full Tufts email address. Example:
  3. Click Sign in with Office 365. 
  4. Enter your Tufts Username (e.g., ljumbo01) and your Tufts Password then tap Log in.
  5. Respond to the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) request on your mobile device.

Please note that there are various iOS operating systems, so the steps for your device may be slightly different. 

  1. Open the Settings application from the home screen on your device. 

  1. Open the Accounts & Passwords menu. 

  1. Tap Add Account

  1. Tap Exchange

  1. In the Email field, enter your Tufts email address. Typically, this will be, such as

  1. A pop up will appear asking you to confirm you wish to sign in to your "" Exchange account. Click Sign In

  1. In the next window, enter your Tufts Username (e.g., ljumbo01) and your Tufts Password. Tap Log in

  1. Respond to the Two-Factor Authentication request on your mobile device. 

  1. Microsoft will next ask you to accept several permissions. On this screen, you can tap Accept to connect your Tufts email to your device. 

If your device needs you to fill in other fields, use these settings: 

Account type:  Exchange/Office 365 

Email address: (ex.

Username: (ex.

Password:  your Tufts Password 


Domain:  leave it blank
