Changing Your Current Status
Overview
While using Teams, you can put up a status to indicate to other people if you are available, away, or should not be disturbed. You can also set up a message that people will automatically see if they attempt to message you through Teams.
- Click on your profile icon in the top right corner of the Teams window.
- Click on your current status. A menu will appear with options to choose from. You can also set a duration for your status or reset your status.
- Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the Teams window and select Set status message.
- A window will appear where you can set your status message.
- Use the text box to type your custom status message.
- Check the box next to Show when people message me if you would like your status message to appear above the compose message box when someone sends you a message or @mentions you.
- Use the dropdown menu to automatically clear your status after a set period of time.
- To set the message, click Done.
- To edit or delete your current status message, click on your profile icon once again and move your mouse over the message. Icons will appear that allow you to edit (
) or delete (
) it.
Note: If you set up an Out of Office in Microsoft Outlook, it will automatically sync with Microsoft Teams.
- Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the Teams window and select Set status message.
- Click on Schedule out of office.
- In the window that appears, click on the slider to Turn on automatic replies.
- Use the text box to create your out of office message. You can also choose to send automatic replies to people from outside of Tufts and set a specific timeframe for your automatic replies.
- When you’re done, click Save.
