Omnissa Horizon: Tufts Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
ANNOUNCEMENT: The VMware Horizon application that is used to access the Tufts VDI has rebranded as Omnissa Horizon. If you have installed the VMware Horizon application to a personal computer or mobile device, you will need to uninstall it and install the new Omnissa Horizon application.
The Tufts Virtual Lab provides online access to desktops and licensed software via a virtual Windows 11 interface from another device using our virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). This is done via the Omnissa Horizon (formerly VMware Horizon) application, which is available both through your browser and through a downloadable application on your computer or mobile device.
Please note that VDI does not connect you to your personal Tufts Windows computer, but to a virtual Windows computer with a standard set of applications.
Important note about inactivity: After 1 hour of inactivity if not locked and 4 hours of inactivity even if locked, VDI will automatically disconnect. Be sure to save your work so it isn’t lost!
