SMS COVID-19 Test Scheduling

Tufts University uses an SMS and email based scheduling system for scheduling routine COVID-19 tests.

If you are in the routine surveillance program, after each test, you'll receive a text and email with the date of your next testing appointment. There are no appointment timeslots - you can walk in any time on the date of your appointment.

When you test, you'll receive an initial text with your next appointment

You can reply to the SMS text to reschedule your appointment, let us know you're away from campus and will be missing appointments, change your preferred testing center, and let us know that you've left Tufts.

If you don't receive the text, please update your contact information.

You can respond to the SMS text you received to reschedule your test. You can only reschedule within the week's time frame (Monday - Sunday).

Respond to the SMS with “RESCHEDULE <date>” (i.e. reschedule Aug 2 or Away 8/2). The system will reschedule your next appointment to the specified date.

You will receive a confirmation of the reschedule.

If you are in the routine surveillance testing program and will be away from campus for a short time (e.g. on vacation for a week), you must let COVID Testing know by responding to the SMS or emailing covidtesting@tufts.edu. This will prevent you from seeming like you're simply missing tests and going out of compliance.

You can respond to the SMS text you received to let us know that you will be away.  Respond with “AWAY <date> (i.e. Away Sept 3 or Away 9/3), with the date being the day you'll be back. The testing system will then schedule your next test for the date of your return, and Covid Testing will add you to the testing exemption for the duration you will be away

Write "Away <date>" to set your away date.

You can respond to the SMS text you received with NEXT to see your next test date.

Next tells you your next test date

You can respond to the SMS text you received to let us know that you want to change your testing location.  Respond with “LOCATION <campus> (i.e. Location Medford).  The system will update your testing site preference.

Setting location will confirm your next test date at the new location.

You can also see a list of testing site locations by responding with LOCATION.

You'll receive test site locations

You can respond to the SMS text you received with "STOP" to stop receiving text notifications, or with "START" to resume text notifications.

You will receive a confirmation of starting or stopping notifications.

You can respond to the SMS text you received with "GONE" if you have left campus for the term. This will remove you from the routine surveillance testing program.

You will receive a confirmation that you've been removed from the testing program.
