ECC Home Screen – What Will You See?
When you log in to ECC, you’ll be brought to your dashboard’s Home tab. The Home tab is a dashboard of all project and payroll statements you are part of, the statuses of those statements, and any outstanding actions you need to perform. These are organized by section in a table labeled Work List.
Depending on your role, you may see up to four sections on your Work List.
The Statements Awaiting Certification tab contains all payroll and project statements you are responsible for certifying – usually your own. This section will show the employee’s statements that are in either the Ready for Pre-Review and Ready for Certification status.
- Faculty will see only payroll statements.
- PIs will also see project statements on projects they lead.
- RAs usually see this section as empty, unless they have their own payroll or project statement to certify.
Example: Below, Terry Bradshaw, a PI, sees:
- 2 payroll statements:
- Her fiscal year 2019 statement, which is Ready for Certification and requires action.
- Her fiscal year 2020 certification, which is being built and will be available for certifying on September 1st, 2021 – the date annual certification occurs.
- 2 project statements that are Ready for Certification for this quarter.
Note: See the “Certifying a Statement” page for a step-by-step walkthrough of certifying a statement that’s ready for certification.
The Pending Payroll Tasks tab displays all Payroll Adjustment Reconciliation (PAR) tasks that need review and processing. These tasks are results from a payroll transaction(s) that affects statements which have previously been certified. We recommend that you perform a PAR review, processing these changed statements, on a weekly basis.
Example: Below, Art Rooney, a primary RA, sees 4 Pending Payroll Tasks that will require review.
Note: See the “Post-Certification Payroll Tasks" page for a step-by-step walkthrough of reviewing and processing PAR tasks.
The Payroll Statements tab displays all payroll statements for Certifiers associated to your assigned departments.
This list is populated at the beginning of the pre-review period. The Pre-review period is a three week period before the Certification Period opens that gives RAs the opportunity to review both payroll and project statements before they are routed to the Certifier for certification.
This tab includes statements that are in the following statuses:
- Ready for Pre-review
- Ready for Certification
- Ready for Certification, Re-opened
- Ready for Certification, Re-opened by Payroll Adjustment
The RA’s responsibility in this tab is to perform a pre-review on any statement in Ready for Pre-Review status. For other statements and statuses, the RA’s responsibility is to monitor that the Certifier certifies the statement by the deadline.
Note: As each statement is pre-reviewed or certified, it is removed from the Payroll Statements tab.
Example: Below, Art Rooney, a primary RA, sees 4 Payroll Statements. Looking at the Status column:
- 2 are in the status Ready for Pre-Review, so Art needs to take action on them.
- 2 are in the status Ready for Certification, so Art simply needs to be follow-up with the statement owners (Terry Bradshaw and Amber Pratt) and be sure they certify their statements by the due date of 10/31/2020.
Note: See the “Pre-Reviewing a Statement” page for a breakdown of the pre-review period, including a step-by-step walkthrough on pre-reviewing a statement.
The Project Statements tab displays all project statements for PIs associated with your assigned departments.
This list is populated at the beginning of the pre-review period. The Pre-review period is a three week period before the Certification Period opens that gives RAs the opportunity to review both payroll and project statements before they are routed to the faculty and PIs for certification.
Note: As each statement is pre-reviewed or certified, it is removed from the Project Statements tab.
Example: Below, Art Rooney, a primary RA, sees 5 Project Statements. Looking at the Status column:
- 3 are in the status Ready for Pre-Review, so Art needs to take action on them.
2 are in the status Ready for Certification, so Art simply needs to be follow-up with the statement owners (both are Terry Bradshaw) and be sure they certify their statements.
