Connecting Folders Between Your Device and VDI

You can designate a folder in the VDI machine to be connected to a folder on your own computer. For example, you can connect the Documents folder on your physical computer and the Documents folder in the virtual desktop; then, any files or folders inside of Documents on one machine you'll be able to access from Documents on the other machine.

To do this, you need to be using the VMWare Horizon app, and not accessing VDI through vdi.it.tufts.edu/

Follow these instructions. You don't need to un-connect the folders; the connection will terminate when you quit the VMWare Horizon app.

Windows

  1. Right-click on the name of the virtual desktop icon you want to connect to and open the settings.
  2. Click Sharing, then add a folder that is shared between your virtual desktop and your computer.

Mac

  1. Move your mouse cursor to the top of the screen, click VMWare Horizon Client, then click preferences.
  2. Click Sharing, then the + mark. Add a folder on your Mac to share with the virtual desktop.
