Using XM Fax
Accessing the XM Fax Web Client
- Go to efax.tufts.edu. (If you are off-campus, you will need to be on the Tufts VPN.)
- Log in with your Tufts username (e.g. jjumbo01) and password.
Home Page Layout

- Anyone can use your 10-digit XM Fax number just like they normally would, even if they are using a fax machine.
- An optional email notification can be sent to you whenever you receive a fax.
- Option 1 – Receive an email notification with the fax attached as a PDF.
- Option 2 – Receive an email notification with the date, time, and sender’s fax number, but no attached PDF.
- Option 3 – No email notification. (Good for high-volume situations.)
- To view your faxes or manage them further, log in to efax.tufts.edu with your Tufts username (e.g. jjumbo01) and password.
- Received faxes will be listed in the Inbound history.
- Log in to efax.tufts.edu with your Tufts username (e.g. jjumbo01) and password. (If you are off-campus, you will need to be on the Tufts VPN.)
- Click New fax.

- In the Recipients section, provide the name (optional), company name (optional), and 10-digit fax number (required) of each recipient.
- As you type, suggestions will appear from your contact list. You can select one of these suggested contacts, or enter a new recipient and click Add.

- In the Cover sheet section:
- Style – To include a cover sheet with your fax, select “Default cover Sheet.” If you do not wish to included a cover sheet, select None.
- Subject – Provide a title for your fax.
- Comment – Provide body text for your cover sheet.

- In the Attachments section, drag-and-drop or browse for attachments to include with your fax. Multiple attachments can be included. (Note: The maximum size for attachments is 100 pages.)

- (Optional) Click Preview to review your fax before you send it.
- When you’re ready, click Submit to send your fax.

- You can see the fax being sent in the Outgoing queue. Faxes take approximately the same amount of time as sending them on a traditional fax machine. Images or large faxes may take a bit longer. If the destination fax is busy, the system will automatically retry.
- Sent faxes will appear in the Outbound history.
