Windows 10 Coming to Tufts Owned and Managed Machines
Beginning this June 2017, Tufts Technology Services (TTS) will begin deploying new PCs with Windows 10 (including Office 2016). Microsoft released this new operating system in July 2015 and since then we have thoroughly tested Windows 10 with common applications at Tufts and have upgraded approximately 250 machines to-date.
What to expect
- All NEW Tufts owned and managed Windows machines will be deployed with Windows 10.
- TTS will work with the community to upgrade any Tufts owned and managed Windows machines that are 2 years old or newer to Windows 10.
Features and Benefits
If you are currently using Office 2013, you will not notice a significant change moving to Windows 10 - Office 2016 as the features and interface are very similar. However, if you are still using Office 2010, the move to 2016 will provide a very different interface and experience. That said, at Tufts we try to provide the community with the latest software versions while remaining one version behind the vendor to ensure proper testing of features in our environment.
If you want to collaborate better and be more productive, Windows 10 with Office 2016 is for you! Some of the key benefits and features of Windows 10 - Office 2016 include teamwork features like co-authoring; lightning fast search; improved performance with Outlook; and enhanced security.
