TTS Upgrades VPN Service
As part our ongoing commitment to service improvement, on August 10th Tufts Technology Services (TTS) will launch a new Virtual Private Network (VPN) service that will offer Tufts community members improved support and exceptional mobile capabilities when accessing Tufts network resources and the Internet from off-campus.
Tufts VPN makes secure remote access to the Tufts network possible by using a point-to-point connection with “tunneling" protocols that keep the connection private and secure, especially when transmitting data over public networks, like those found in hotels, coffee shops, and transportation terminals.
Pick the VPN option that’s best for you.
As of August 10th, there will be three options for accessing Tufts new VPN service:
Tufts VPN Web Interface provides a quick and simple VPN connection from any computer or wireless-enabled device. Tufts VPN Web Interface requires no software installation and supports single file transfer and access to Tufts network drives (P:,Q:,R:). On August 10th, Tufts new VPN Web Interface will be accessible via the same URL as the current VPN Web service: https://vpn.tufts.edu.
VPN AnyConnect is a small application that can be installed on any laptop or desktop computer. VPN AnyConnect yields a more robust connection that supports multiple file/folder transfer, remote printing, and persistent mapping for Tufts network drives (P:, Q:, R:). As of August 10th, VPN AnyConnect software can be downloaded from the Tufts VPN Web Interface.
(NEW!) VPN AnyConnect Mobile App creates a secure link from mobile devices, like smartphones and tablets, to the Tufts network and the Internet. Download the VPN AnyConnect Mobile App from Google Play or the iTunes App Store.
You may continue to use Tufts’ existing VPN service until August 10th.
