Get Started:

Your Tufts Password is created at the same time as your Tufts Username account, so you don’t need to request one. Passwords must adhere to the following Tufts Complex Password Standards:

  • Minimum password length: 8 characters (can contain more)
  • Passwords cannot contain parts of your account name or your full name that exceed two consecutive characters
  • Your previous 5 passwords are invalid and cannot be re-used
  • Passwords must contain one character from at least three of the following four categories:
    • English uppercase alphabet characters (A–Z)
    • English lowercase alphabet characters (a–z)
    • Base 10 digits (0–9)
    • Non-alphanumeric characters ( !@#$%^&*()-_+=;:´"}{[]|`~))

You must change your password every 180 days. Starting 14 days before your password expiration date, you'll receive a daily email with instructions to change your password.  If you do not change your password within the 14 day window, your account will be restricted until your password is changed.

Change your Password

To change your password or recover a forgotten password, use Tufts Tools, an online self-service group of tools that include options to change or recover a forgotten Tufts Password.

TIP: Don't forget that your smart-phone or other email-enabled device, such as a tablet, will need any saved passwords reset, as well. Do this as soon as possible any time you update or reset your Tufts Password.
